Toothpaste

Xylitol is a naturally occuring substance found in a wide variety of plants. Commercially it is often extracted from hardwoods (eg Birch) or corn. Xylitol provides sweetness and a cooling sensation when it dissolves. Xylitol used in Jack N' Jill does not promote tooth decay because oral plaque bacteria cannot metabolise it. At Jack N' Jill we believe in the benefits of Xylitol so much that it makes up 40% of our toothpaste formulation.

Xanthan Gum is produced via the fermentation of plant material. It is widely used in food products like salad dressings and sauces as a thickener and stabilizer. It works the same way in our toothpaste.

A vibrant, golden orange flower, Calendula (aka Marigold) has long been used as a medicinal plant. It is produced by crushing the petals and extracting their constituents into glycerin. Calendula is utilised for its restorative and healing powers and we include it in our formulation to help soothe sensitive gums.

The form of Silica that we use in our toothpaste is known as Hydrated Silica. It is naturally derived from Silicone Dioxide which is abundantly available in nature. Silica behaves as a thickener in our gel toothpaste and also has mild abrasive properties which helps to clean plaque from teeth when used with a toothbrush.

Citric Acid is naturally found in citrus fruits and juices and is characterised by an acidic taste. Citric Acid is produced commercially by fermentation of sugars found in plants. It is a weak acid and is used in Jack N' Jill formulations to adjust the pH and perform as a stabilzer.

Jack N' Jill toothpastes are formulated using Certified Organic natural fruit flavor extracts. These extracts are carefully blended to create unique and specific flavor profiles. At Jack N' Jill we always avoid artifical flavors.

Glycerin is an odorless, colorless syrupy liquid with a sweet taste. Commercially it comes from vegetable oils (plant origin) and Jack N' Jill uses glycerin produced from coconut oil. Glycerin is known as a humectant, which means that it retains moisture and helps to maintain texture and structure in our formulations.

Potassium Sorbate is a naturally derived preservative and is produced from Sorbic Acid. Potassium Sorbate is a safe and effective preservative, widely used in many food, beverage and personal care products. It's function is to prevent the growth of molds and bacteria. In Jack N' Jill it is used in very low concentrations to help maintain the integrity of the formulation and to keep it safe from spoiling. In the body it is broken down to Carbon Dioxide and Water and eliminated completely.

Benzyl Alcohol is naturally occurring in many fruits and plants, therefore it occurs in the natural, Certified Organic fruit flavors found in Jack N' Jill. To be clear, Benzyl Alcohol is not added as an ingredient, but occurs naturally in very small quantities in the flavor component of the formulation.

Tooth Sparkles

Hydroxyapatite is a naturally occuring mineral form of calcium that is sourced from cows milk. In Jack N' Jill toothpaste, hydroxyapetite helps maintain and support teeth mineralisation.

Calcium Carbonate is a common substance found in nature in common rocks such as limestone. Calcium Carbonate assists healthy bone development/growth and building as well as healthy muscle function. Jack N' Jill Tooth Sparkles contains Calcium Carbonate for these benefits and also for it's mild abrasive qualities.

Colecaliferol (Vitamin D3) comes from lanolin, which is sourced from wool. Vitamin D3 helps maintain and support the immune system health and also assists healthy teeth development. The ingestion of Vitamin D3 also facilitates calcium absorption into the teeth and bones making it a critical to the effectiveness of calcium supplements.

Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC) is made from purified woody plant material and presents as a white powder. MCC is a natural, fibre-rich binding ingredient which helps keep the tablet in tact. It is chewable, non toxic and disintegrates efficiently.

Sodium Bicarbonate is commonly known as baking soda. It occurs naturally and for commercial use is manufactured from naturally derived materials such as soda ash and carbon dioxide. Sodium Bicarbonate absorbs odours and neutralises acids, which is important for a healthy oral environment. It is also a mild abrasive and helps to remove plaque from teeth.

Colloidal Anhydrous Silica (CAS) is a naturally derived form of silica that appears as a white, fluffy powder. It is used for it's lubricant properties (glidant) for the compounding of our chewable tablets. As our Tooth Sparkles are being formed in the tablet presses, CAS helps them to be formed properly and ejected without damage.

Magnesium Stearate is a naturally occuring salt resulting from Magnesium and Stearate salts bonding. It is used in Tooth Sparkles as a glidant and to assist with the consistency of the tablet.

Siraitia grosvenorii, also known as monkfruit, is a herbaceous perennial vine of the gourd family, Cucurbitaceae. The extract from this fruit creates a sweetness sensation that is 200 times stronger than common sugar, but has zero calories. A little goes a long way to making Jack N' Jill Tooth Sparkles taste yummy.

An aluminum-free natural color in a fine powder form. This natural colour is odor and flavor free.
